Celebrating Our Remarkable 2025
As 2025 comes to a close, we are pausing to celebrate what was a truly remarkable year of growth and change! While the past twelve months brought many changes, we are immensely excited for 2026.
This year was made unforgettable by welcoming new team members—Nolan, Evan, and Tim on our rehab team, and Gina on admin—and celebrating the arrival of two new babies (even though it meant saying goodbye to Karyn and Kanika for a while).

In this piece, they bring us vital information on the crucial role of nutrition in maintaining optimal bone health and preventing conditions like osteopenia and osteoporosis.
We hope you enjoy this informative read below!
Ignite Nutrition Article:
Prevent Osteopenia and Osteoporosis
When we think of healthy bones, preventing and healing from injuries, there is more to management than just the right movements in the gym.
What we eat plays a crucial role in building, maintaining, and repairing our skeletal structure to keep moving for life – and many of us think ‘milk’.
Calcium from milk or other sources is powerful for bone mineralization but it needs the help of vitamin D to be absorbed. Other nutrients, like magnesium, phosphorus, and vitamin K2 additionally help channel the calcium from our food into bone strengthening and repair.
So is milk really that important?
Short hand, yes! Dairy products are our best source of calcium and contain other key nutrients, like protein, vitamin D, and phosphorus. However, it’s not necessary to eat dairy to reach your calcium and nutrient goals. For substitutes, label reading is important. Not all non-dairy alternatives are fortified with micronutrients.
PRO TIP: If consuming a plant based dairy alternative – read the label to make sure its a source of calcium and vitamin D.
What about other foods?
Other foods that support bone health include:
- Leafy greens
- Nuts & seeds
- Fatty fish, like salmon
These bone-health foods are simple, and they often contain most (or all) of the micronutrients to promote bone density and healing. Include leafy greens and nuts and seeds daily, and fish at least twice a week.
Other Tips
- Eating enough overall is just as important as eating the right foods. When we under-fuel, our bodies can’t always store nutrients in the same way.
- Vitamin D supplementation is recommended for Albertans of at least 1000IU every day
Working with a registered dietitian can help:
- the prevention of osteopenia and osteoporosis
- navigate bone injury healing
- Nutrition for recovery and injury
- And so much more
We assess for personalized nutrition recommendations, making it feel simple to get the nutrients you need! Learning realistic strategies – and identifying when a supplement may be indicated – working with an RD can help give you the skills, and peace of mind, to know that your work in the gym is paying off.
