SPORT SPECIALIST CHIROPRACTIC

In addition to an undergraduate degree and a four year Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Sport Specialist Chiropractors have completed an intensive Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Sport Sciences. This education equips Sport Specialist Chiropractors to provide excellent assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal conditions. Whether you participate in sport recreationally or competitively, Sport Specialist Chiropractors understand the biomechanical and physiological demands of your sport. These practitioners can help you prevent or recover from injury, as well as optimize movement and performance.

JAW PAIN AND TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DYSFUNCTION

Jaw pain and temporomandibular dysfunction are often overlooked, but can have a huge impact on a patient’s quality of life. Patients with these issues often don’t know who to look to for help, and symptoms can worsen or coincide with headaches, neck pain, mid back pain, and shoulder pain. Jaw pain can also have a huge effect on eating and sleeping, and breathing habits.

Seeing a chiropractor to assess and diagnose your jaw pain is a first step, then subsequent effective treatments such as joint mobilization and manipulation, soft tissue techniques, and home exercise care can be undertaken, with referrals to other practitioners as necessary. Having your dentist or orthodontist and chiropractor work together to manage your jaw pain and alignment can be very effective.

PRENATAL, NATAL, AND POSTNATAL CARE

Prenatal Care: The musculoskeletal system goes through incredible and vast changes during pregnancy. In order to handle these stresses on our tissues and joints, it’s important to prepare for pregnancy by strengthening our body and improving our tissue tolerance.

Natal Care: During pregnancy, pelvic and low back pain are predominant, along with other conditions such as diastasis recti, osteitis pubis, carpal tunnel syndrome, rib pain, postural strain and headaches. Supportive treatment and education throughout pregnancy can be a very effective way to handle the may changes occurring to the musculoskeletal system.

Postnatal Care: Both mom and baby go through a lot of trauma during the birthing process. A mom’s healing process is so important after giving birth, however, often goes overlooked with the newborn focus. Continued pelvic floor and core strengthening, C-section scar care, postural and ergonomic education, and overuse injuries from sustained postures and lifting are just some of the conditions that can be helped through chiropractic postpartum care.

MANUAL THERAPY

We use manual techniques such as soft tissue release and joint mobilizations to decrease tension and restore joint movement.

IMS (INTRAMUSCULAR STIMULATION), ACUPUNCTURE AND DRY NEEDLING

We use acupuncture needles to relax tight muscles and stimulate the healing of hypersensitive nerves. These modalities help stimulate the release of the body’s own natural painkillers.

INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION (IASTM)

IASTM refers to the use of instruments that allow the therapist to treat increased muscular tension, and break down scar tissue and adhesions. The therapist uses IASTM to provide pain relief and decrease dysfunction caused by these issues.

EXERCISE THERAPY

At MOVE TO MOVE, we strongly believe in an active approach to therapy. Whether you are attending sessions for injury prevention or recovering from an injury, the chiropractor will ask you to perform various movement patterns throughout your session to assess, treat and eventually create an effective home exercise program specifically designed for you.

To be effective, an exercise program should be progressive, allowing you to gradually gain mobility and control over time. This approach enables your body to move better and return to a pain-free active lifestyle.

Our team is highly knowledgeable and educated in exercise therapy. Our team have certifications from Functional Range Systems (FRS),  Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and the Ido Portal Method.

VESTIBULAR THERAPY

A specialized form of therapy used to assess and treat vestibular disorders or symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, visual disturbances and loss of balance.

Therapists require additional training to perform this comprehensive assessment to identify the patient’s specific problem.

CONCUSSION REHABILITATION

Concussion is a mild traumatic injury to the brain caused by a blow to the head. As every concussion is unique and can present with a variety of symptoms such as headaches, neck pain, dizziness and balance problems. Our chiropractors have the knowledge and skill to guide you through safe return to work, daily living and sport.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT (MVA)

Have you been involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA)?

1. Call your insurance company
2. Book a Chiropractic Appointment

It’s important to know that even the mildest accidents can lead to injuries, and that these injuries may not show symptoms right away but can lead to significant pain, discomfort, and loss of function at later times.

In Alberta, you can start your chiropractic treatment even before you see your family doctor, and it is very likely that your treatment will be covered by your car insurance. All persons involved in an accident, both drivers and passengers, are eligible for treatment under the Motor Vehicle Act.

At MOVE TO MOVE, our team have a deep knowledge of the MVA injuries and most effective treatments for resolving them.

During your first visit you will be assessed and treated, and the proper reporting will be sent to your insurance company. Treatments for MVA are billed directly to your insurance company. Your chiropractor will communicate with your claims officer to ensure you get the treatments you need to recover fully.
