The Move to Move Difference: Dry Needling (IMS) Within Our 3-Phase Plan of Care

1
Phase 1: Relief & Reset
Focus Area: Deactivating painful trigger points and calming tissue inflammation.
Role of Dry Needling (IMS): IMS acts as a primary catalyst—releasing muscular spasms, improving blood circulation, and breaking chronic pain cycles quickly.
→

2
Phase 2: Rebuild & Restore Movement
Focus Area: Unlocking joint mobility and retraining clean movement patterns.
Role of Dry Needling (IMS): IMS releases deep tissue restriction so our clinicians can restore optimal range of motion and guide functional exercises in our fully equipped gym.
→

3
Phase 3: Thrive & Long-Term Capacity
Focus Area: Building long-term strength, stability, and injury prevention.
Role of Dry Needling (IMS): Transition beyond passive needle work into active movement school, strength training, Kinstretch, Clinical Pilates, and long-term joint health.
“When I first came in, my back pain was so severe that I couldn’t even sit down. … My back no longer hurts, my mobility has improved, and I am finally out of chronic pain.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dry Needling / IMS provided by a Physiotherapist or a Chiropractor?
At Move to Move, certified Dry Needling is offered by both our Physiotherapists and Chiropractors. You can book an IMS session under either discipline depending on your treatment goals and personal insurance coverage.
Do I come in strictly for dry needling?
IMS is a powerful tool integrated into a broader Plan of Care. Your session includes a thorough 1-on-1 evaluation, targeted needling, manual therapy, and corrective movement work in our gym to ensure long-lasting results.
Is Dry Needling covered by extended health insurance?
Yes. IMS sessions are billed directly under your individual Physiotherapy or Chiropractic insurance benefits. We offer direct billing to major insurance providers.
What is the difference between Acupuncture and Dry Needling (IMS)?
While both use thin needles, dry needling (IMS) is based on Western anatomical and neuromuscular principles. It targets myofascial trigger points (tight muscle knots) to relieve tension, decrease pain, and restore muscle function.
Is dry needling painful?
Most patients feel a brief twitch response or deep ache when the needle encounters a tight muscle knot. This twitch is a positive sign that the muscle is releasing, usually followed by immediate relaxation and improved range of motion.
