No, you do not need a referral from your doctor before you see a Physiotherapist or Chiropractor. However, some insurance companies require a referral from your doctor to receive reimbursement for your treatment. Please check with your insurance provider to determine their requirements.

MOVE TO MOVE therapist’s only book 1-on-1 appointments so if you book a 45 minute appointment, you will have the therapist for that entire block.

If you are coming in for an assessment, please come in 5 minutes early to complete some medical information forms.

Wear something comfortable and easy to move in. Wear something that will allow your therapist easy access to the area being treated. If your shoulder or neck is being worked on then a tank tops or sports bras works best. If you are having your low back, hips or knees worked on then shorts are ideal.

MOVE TO MOVE is here for the most stress-free process so we offer direct billing to the most common insurance vendors: Medavie Blue Cross, Alberta Blue Cross, Greenshield, Empire Life, and all Telus Health Portal companies such as Canada Life, ManuLife, SunLife, Chambers of Commerce Group, and more.

1. Call your insurance company

It’s important to know that even the mildest accidents can lead to injuries, and that these injuries may not show symptoms right away but can lead to significant pain, discomfort, and loss of function at later times.

In Alberta, you can start your physiotherapy treatment even before you see your family doctor, and it is very likely that your treatment will be covered by your car insurance.  All persons involved in an accident, both drivers and passengers, are eligible for treatment under the Motor Vehicle Act.

At MOVE TO MOVE, our therapists have a deep knowledge of the MVA injuries and most effective treatments for resolving them.

During your first visit you will be assessed and treated, and the proper reporting will be sent to your insurance company.  Treatments for MVA are billed directly to your insurance company. Your therapist will communicate with your claims officer to ensure you get the treatments you need to recover fully.

MOVE TO MOVE does not have a contract with Alberta Health Services nor with the Workers Compensation Board (WCB). Therefore, your treatments cannot be paid for by either.
